The company installed its first asphalt plant in Hobart in 1973. In 1976 an asphalt plant was established in Burnie. In 1979 the Hobart plant was replaced with a modern automatic batch plant.
The Burnie plant was upgraded, in stages, commencing in early 1984. The upgrading included installation of computer controlled batching operations, hot storage facilities and a weighbridge.
Roadways is Tasmania's only licensed operator of the Sharpes "Multipaver© " asphalt paving system. This system is especially designed for continuous shoulder widening and large patching works. The Sharpes technology recently won the Civil Contractors Federation (CCF), Case Earth Awards - Construction Excellence Category 1 (up to $2 million), for the Wollombi Road project in New South Wales.

Zaganite specialises in Thermoplastic and paint linemarking and line removal as well as offering waterproofing solutions for flat roofed buildings.
